Richard C. DeBerry
Richard C. DeBerry, a shareholder and director with McDonald Sanders, brings 18 years of broad-based federal and state court litigation experience to the firm.
Mr. DeBerry practices in the area of business litigation, with an emphasis on real estate and construction matters. He has represented the interests of industrial, commercial and retail property owners and developers, homeowners, public school districts, municipalities, a private university, and banking institutions. Mr. DeBerry also has considerable experience in railroad-related litigation having represented both a major railroad as well as a short line railroad in a variety of matters.
Mr. DeBerry works primarily on eminent domain (condemnation), commercial lease, purchase contract and property tax matters in real estate litigation. His construction litigation practice focuses on owner representation in commercial as well as public construction projects. Mr. DeBerry’s railroad litigation practice has involved right of way disputes, condemnation, tariff/demurrage and other federal regulatory issues, and union disputes. In general business litigation, Mr. DeBerry works primarily on contractual disputes, including insurance coverage disputes.
Following his 1989 graduation from The University of Texas at Austin, Mr. DeBerry earned a law degree from The University of Tulsa in 1992. While there, he served as Notes and Comments editor for The University of Tulsa Law Journal, from 1991 to 1992, and was a member of the National Mock Trial Team in 1991.
Mr. DeBerry was named a Texas Monthly Texas Rising Star 2004 though 2006, a Texas Monthly Super Lawyer 2007 through 2011, and has been listed as one of Fort Worth, Texas magazine’s "Top Attorneys" on multiple occasions.
